Sony DEV-3 and DEV-5 binoculars explore and capture the world in 3DForget video cameras, Sony’s new line of digital binoculars are the Swiss army knives of tech. The Sony DEV-3 and DEV-5 are fitted with the renowned Exmor R CMOS sensor. The sensors are supported by BIONZ image processors and fitted behind a pair of precision G Lens optics. Not only will you be able to spy on your neighbors, but you’ll be able to capture the footage in full HD.

Whether you opt for the Sony DEV-3 or DEV-5 binoculars, both units record in AVCHD 2.0 format with stereo sound and your choice of either 2D or 3D full HD video. Both models offer 10x optical zoom during 2D recording or 5.4x while recording in 3D mode. The DEV-5 adds 20x digital zoom and built-in GPS for geotagging your spy sessions.

Other highlights include Sony’s Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, the same system found on Sony’s Handycam camcorders and Cyber-shot cameras. Since these are digital binoculars there’s no need for manual focus rings, simply zoom and let autofocus do its trick. An HDMI-out port, rechargeable battery rate dat up to three hours of 2D recording and a USB port round out the units.

Coming November | Sony | c. £1,800 DEV-3, c. £2,300 DEV-5
