The Xiamoi Phone brings together the infamous MIUI ROM and the latest 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. With a price point that nearly every Android fan can agree with, Xiamoi phone has just set the benchmark for Android super phones. Let’s get down to brass tax.
Under the hood is a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor to compliment the 4-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixel) resolution capacitive touchscreen. At just 11.9 mm thick and 149 grams, you’ll be surprised to find a massive 1930mAh battery on the rear. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 266MHz Adreno220 GPU with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. Not to be outdone by blockbuster specs, the Xiamoi phone ships with an unlocked bootloader and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (MIUI ROM).
The Xiamoi phone will be available for pre-order on August 29th for ¥1,999 (£188) with an official release scheduled for October in China. A cheaper 1.2 GHz version will also be available at a later date. Based on the price of admission, you wouldn’t expect to see this level of cutting-edge technology housed inside the Xiamoi phone. Although it might be too early to tell, I think this may be my first Android crush.
