Straight from the horse’s mouth, HTC’s CFO Winston Yung has confirmed to the Chinese publication Liberty Times that the company plans to launch the 10-inch Puccini at the end of the third or early fourth quarter. Since the Chinese fiscal year runs from January 1st until December 31st, expect the slate to land late next month or early October.
Legal disputes with Apple have not stopped the HTC money train in Asia. Sales in China are expected to increase four-fold this year and the number of sales outlets for HTC smartphones will increase from 650 to 2,000 locations. The seven-inch HTC Flyer will have a big brother in less than two month’s time.
Just to recap, the HTC Puccini is still unconfirmed at this point (though our library of leaked images might disagree). The slate is rumored to be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM, an eight megapixel camera and hopefully an iPad-matching price point. The real question is whether the Android Honeycomb market can support another tablet.
