With Gears of War 3 just over a month away, Epic is playing hardball when it comes to spoilers. After a pre-release version of the game leaked online recently, YouTube was flooded with videos showing off parts of the campaign.

Now Epic says anyone who has shared Gears of War 3 spoilers could find themselves locked out when the game launches for real on September 20. Banhammer, ahoy!

Executive producer Rod Fergusson told Edge: “We’re extremely diligent about getting that stuff taken down and issued a call to fans not to perpetuate it…[we're] keeping track of those who do. I don’t think everybody’s aware of the potential repercussions of those types of actions.”

He expanded on the threat to Eurogamer saying: “We have a banning system built into our stuff so we can go in and identify certain people…if you don’t value this community, you don’t value this experience, then we don’t value you.”

Epic hasn’t explained quite how it’ll make the connection between spoiler videos and potential Gears of War 3 players but you’d best avoid sharing videos if you don’t want to run the risk. Try our spoiler-free Gears Of War 3 preview instead.
