Fujifilm has added a new camera to its range of compacts – the FinePix F600 EXR. While it looks very similar to its predecessor, the Fujifilm FinePix F550 EXR, and uses the same 0.5-inch 16MP EXR CMOS sensor, there’s a lot more going on inside including a new augmented reality feature which turns the F600 into tour guide pointing out prime picture taking spots.

Read on for full details of the Fujifilm FinePix F600 EXR specs including what that augmented reality feature is all about and the model’s new motion detection system…

First up, the FinePix F600 EXR’s augmented reality feature uses the camera’s built-in GPS to recognise one million landmarks. When you’re near a point of interest, the camera will overlay the information onto the 3in LCD screen to let you know what’s worth shooting nearby and how far away it is.

Once you’ve decided what you want to snap, the Finepix F600 EXR has 15x optical zoom combined with 30x intelligent digital zoom. Fujifilm says its also improved the low-light performance of the sensor with the motion detection feature. In low-light conditions using Auto mode, the F600 will automatically choose a higher ISO setting. Mechanical image stabilisation is included to further combat blur.

The FinePix F600 EXR also features 1080p video capture, a range of exposure modes including aperture-priority, shutter-priority and manual, the option to shoot RAW format images, a seamless panorama mode and full resolution continuous capture at up to 8fps. The Fujifilm FinePix F600 EXR will hit the UK at the end of October for around £269 in a choice of black, red or white.
