Skype for Xbox 360 launching in October?Skype for Xbox 360 is coming soon, possibly this October according to the latest Xbox awards survey. One of the questions in the survey asks which activities you enjoy on the Xbox 360. The answers include watching DVDs, Zune movies, Nextflix, Hulu Plus and “using Skype”. Microsoft has been quite about Skype integration since the EU commission has not yet approved the deal. This makes the slightest the mention of Skype front page news.

Microsoft’s $8.5 billion bid for Skype was a surprise in May. The deal will see Tony Bates, Skype’s CEO, become the president of the Microsoft Skype Division. Reporting directly to Steve Ballmer, Bates will oversee Skype for Xbox, Windows Phone and other Windows devices. With the major fall dashboard update approaching, the Xbox Skype application seems closer than ever.

Sounds like Microsoft’s 8bn purchase of Skype was more to prevent Sony putting it in the PS3, which was a logical move since the PSP already has it.

Perhaps Sony should go the Google Talk path instead..
