All aboard, the HTC money train is now leaving the station. The Taiwanese giant announced net profits of NT$17.51 billion for the second quarter, up 18 percent from last quarter and 103 percent on the year. HTC shipped 12.1 million units in the quarter, up 25 percent over last and 124 percent on the year.
If you thought the second quarter was huge, wait until you hear HTC’s third quarter forecasts. The company projects its revenues to top NT$137 billion for an increase of 10 percent over the second quarter and 80 percent on the year. Total smartphone shipments will grow 98 percent on the year to 13.5 million and gross margin will range between 27.5 and 28.5 percent.
Overall, HTC is looking strong across the board. Let’s just hope investors can find at least something to like in the second quarter financials and their quarter forecast. Maybe a glimpse of the HTC Puccini will do the trick.
