Nintendo has promised a major Nintendo 3DS price cut across the world. It began by announcing that it was slicing ¥10,000 off the price of the console in Japan but has now confirmed that the US price will drop from $249.99 to $169.99 and the UK price will be cut “by a third”.
The new Nintendo 3DS price will take effect from August 12 but if you’ve already bought one and are feeling miffed, Nintendo has sweetened the deal for you too. Read on to discover how you’ll be rewarded for your faith in the 3D machine…
As well as the price cut, Nintendo says anyone who bought – or buys – a Nintendo 3DS before August 11 will be able to download 20 free games. To register for the reward, you just need to connect to the Nintendo eShop before 12 August. The deal will then be delivered in two installments.
On September 1st, Nintendo will release ten free NES games for early adopters, including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Flight, Ice Climber and The Legend Of Zelda. Other Nintendo 3DS owners will be able buy those titles at a later date but they won’t be able to grab the second lot of rewards.
Nintendo says it will add ten free Game Boy Advance titles to the eShop later in the year and keep them permanently as exclusives for “Ambassadors” (its nifty new name for anyone who buys a Nintendo 3DS before August 11 2011). Those titles will include Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Metroid Fusion and Mario vs Donkey Kong.
So there you have it. If you haven’t nabbed a Nintendo 3DS yet, you’ll soon be able to get a bargain but if you’re after the exclusive games you’ve only got a few weeks left to grab one.
