The iPhone jailbreak scene is set to get its own equivalent of WWDC and its kicking off in London on September 17. MyGreatFest is being promoted as a way of bringing the growing community of iOS device tinkerers together.

The programme promises a chance to meet the brains behind iPhone and iPad jailbreaks, attend Q+A sessions and presentations and get involved in coding. Read on for full details on this celebration of jailbreaking including its organiser’s rather unlikely background…

MyGreatFest will take place at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane and tickets are now on sale at £17 for iPhone-jailbreak-obsessed children and £27 for adults. Interestingly, the organiser, Craig Fox, isn’t a programmer, developer or even a professional conference organiser but a carpenter by trade. He’s simply a big fan of modding iOS devices.

The MyGreatFest mission statement says its goal is “to leave others with a better understanding of what jailbreaking actually means to us and that it does not stand for piracy”. It’s a laudable aim but we’re pretty sure Apple wouldn’t agree.

With tickets already sold as far afield as India and Singapore, it looks like MyGreatFest is destined for a full house. Fox told ReadWriteWeb that plans for MyGreatFest San Francisco 2012 are already under way.

Read up on the latest Jailbreak.me developments and let us know: are you a big enough fan of jailbreaking to attend a conference dedicated to cracking open iOS devices?
