HTC rides money train through second quarter, revenues up 104 percent on the yearAll aboard, the HTC money train is now leaving the station. The Taiwanese giant announced net profits of NT$17.51 billion for the second quarter, up 18 percent from last quarter and 103 percent on the year. HTC shipped 12.1 million units in the quarter, up 25 percent over last and 124 percent on the year.

Motorola shipped 440,000 tablets and 4.4M smartphones in the second quarterMotorola Mobility came up big with an increase in handset, smartphone and tablet sales in the second quarter, but still managed to post a net loss. The company shipped 11 million handsets, including 4.4 million smartphones compared to 9.3 million handsets and 4.1 million smartphones in the first quarter. Motorola Xoom shipments nearly doubled, up from 250,000 in the first quarter to 440,000.
