There’s been clamouring for a Facebook iPad app ever since Apple launched the original iPad. Facebook seemed to be ignoring the device entirely with Mark Zuckerberg curiously branding it “not mobile” and so not in need of a dedicated app. But it seems that’s about to change.

The New York Times reports that a Facebook iPad app has been in development for more than a year with Zuckerberg taking a personal interest in its production. It claims that the app sees Facebook Chat and Groups completely overhauled for the larger screen.

Apple makes patent applications to lock down lots of mad ideas but this is the oddest we’ve seen in a while: a plan to turn your iPhone into a virtual wingman.

The idea is to create a picture of you based on the stuff you have stashed on your iPhone and connect you to other iPhone owners nearby who seem compatible.

We heard yesterday that the two Sony Android tablets will hit the UK in September. Now Sony is teasing us with the first in a series of videos about the Sony S1 and Sony S2. It’s a beautiful bit of work curiously revolving around the love between a pair of alabaster figures.

Using a Heath-Robinson-style contraption involving a toy train and a pair of scales, the female figurine sends her love a message that starts on one Sony Android tablet and ends on another. It’s all very jolly and offers absolutely no clues about what we can expect from the Sony Android tablets besides Tegra 2 processors and Android Honeycomb. Nokia Windows Phone incoming: promises to blow your socks off!The first Windows Phone handset from Nokia, powered by Mango, will reportedly, “blow your socks off”. At least according to Dave Trevaskus, a senior training consultant for Nokia, who announced his praise for the upcoming smartphone on Twitter this morning.

According to mobile-review’s Eldar Murtazin, there’s currently two Mango-powered Nokia prototypes make the rounds throughout the company. Which device Dave Trevaskus is referencing on Twitter, however, is anyone’s guess.
