Google TV hasn’t been on high on Google’s list of priorities recently. It was only briefly mentioned at Google I/O with an Android Honeycomb upgrade and we’re still waiting for the UK launch to materialise. But a quietly made acquistion suggests that a rethought Google TV is in the works.

The cloud of bad news around the BlackBerry PlayBook launch has got bigger with Dolby Laboratories suing RIM for patent infringement. The audio technology firm says RIM is willfully infringing on a grab bag of its patents.

Dolby says the technology is used in a number of BlackBerry phones and the BlackBerry PlayBook. It also claims that all the other major smartphone and tablet makers, including Apple, license the same technology.

It says the lawsuit was a last resort after RIM declined to pay and it wants damages and BlackBerry Playbook sales halted. That’s not likely to happen soon – lawsuits of this kind can grind on for years – but it’s another headache RIM could do without.

The new MacBook Air rumours have now been joined by chatter about refreshes for the Mac Mini and Mac Pro. CNET writer, Brian Tong, who got a solid tip off about the new iMac back in May, says new Mac Pros and Mac Minis will drop late next month or in early August.

If Apple does kick out updated versions of its both its heavy duty and bite-size desktops, we’d expect to see Thunderbolt (Intel’s new turbo-speed connection) making an appearance. It would be especially welcome on the Mac Pro which mainly ends up in the hands of hardcore video editors and serious coders who crave those high data transfer speeds.

Fortunately, there are some major differences between the situation faced by Sega and the Sony debacle. The big one is that, since Sega uses external firms to process payments, no credit card details have been swiped. And this time, LulzSec says it didn’t do it. In fact, though it hates Sony, it seems it’s got a lot of love for Sega…
