Yesterday we told you Motorola had scrapped plans to bring the Droid 3, better known as the Milestone 3, to the UK. Following confirmation by Clove, the retailer came forward with a rather somber announcement: the Motorola Pro will be manufacturer’s next hardware QWERTY solution for the UK.
An aging Milestone 2 is no laughing matter. While it might seem arcane for some, there are Android users who not only want, but rely on a physical keyboard. Unfortunately the landscape-oriented five-row QWERTY keyboard of the Motorola Droid 3 will not be it, at least not in the UK.
Instead, the Motorola Pro which was announced back at Mobile World Congress will have to make do. With its 3.1-inch 320 x 480 resolution display, 1 GHz processor, and 5-megapixel camera, the Motorola Pro hardly seems like a replacement to the Milestone 2, or heck even the original Milestone.
However, not all is lost with the Motorola Pro. The design favors speed, mixing together a BlackBerry-inspired keyboard with a highly-pocketable candy-bar shaped design. Not only will you be able to take the phone out of your pocket and start typing faster, but the phone should be more rigid since there’s no sliding mechanism. For the business professional on the go, the added durability might be the Pro’s greatest asset.
