We honestly expected something like the miScroll coming out of a Shenzhen two-bit company, not a good ol’ Yorkshire firm. But here it is, and as far as we can tell, it’s the world’s cheapest Android Gingerbread tablet, undercutting the Samsung Galaxy Tab by half, and the HTC Flyer by 75 percent. Eee by gum, that’s a saving.

The miScroll, from Yorkshire based Storage Options, packs in a 7-inch 800×480 screen, along with a 1GHZ ARM11 processor, 256MB of RAM a microSD slot, Wi-Fi and even HDMI out, with claimed support for a variety of video formats including full 1080p MKV.

For £119.95, that doesn’t sound too bad, especially with the relatively recent Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board. As ever though there are catches: the screen is resistive, and best served with a stylus rather than your fingertip, and the software is missing those crucial Google apps, such as Gmail, Google Maps and the Android Market App Store. Oh well. You can’t have everything we guess.

PS We couldn’t resist:

It’s only a matter of time (and I’d wager, a relatively short one at that!) until this is jailbroken and you can access the Market.

If they could offer a capacitive option for £160, I’m sure they’d sell like… well, I would imagine that there would be issues keeping up with the demand!

I for my sin’s got the one before this and its a Joke.
Great video  codec support plays 1080 great nice and smooth, but battery life is around 2 hours if that. the battery meter is hit and miss.
When I phoned them. I was told the OS is not made for tablets. so tough. and yes they knew the gpu was not setup right for 3d games but does list on the box it can do them.

Most apps run upside down and 3d games do not work. even angry birds is fast but the icons etc are blank white bits.
The screen is as good as the Dell streak 7 Wifi I own as well. But the dell streak 7 screen is bad.

payed £129.99 for mine then got a Dell streak from CEX grade “A” for £165 with 5% off the £175 price

They do a Capacitive version and Maplin sell them.

Save your money and use it for something better.
