Motorola Droid 3 for US eyes only, Milestone 3 UK release cancelled? The first five-row QWERTY keyboard to grace the Motorola Droid line will reportedly remain stateside. Despite having every reason to believe a third-generation Motorola Milestone would grace both Europe and the UK, online retailer Clove has no plans to carry such device.

Clove has not provided an explanation for why there will not be a Milestone 3, but as geeky-gadgets points out, slow Milestone 2 sales might be to blame. The news is far from official, but should the news come to fruition, here’s your fair warning.

Just in case we’re jumping the gun on this, the Motorola Milestone 3 (Droid 3) will feature a dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, HDMI out and of course five-row QWERTY keyboard. The device features Motorola’s custom UI, previously dubbed Motoblur.

Any die-hard Milestone owners in attendance? We’d love to hear your take on the rumored cancellation of the Milestone 3. Is this a smart play on Motorola’s part or would this news, once confirmed, sending you packing to a new smartphone manufacturer? Sound off.

Update: “We’ve heard this morning that the Droid 3/Milestone 3 will not see a UK release. However, we’ve also heard that Motorola will now release the Motorola Pro in the UK, which is due to launch mid-July and is available to pre-order here.” – Clove.

Droid 2 was a minuscule change and added the MotoBlur crappy interface.  Meanwhile the original Droid fans at least the US were locked into a 2 year contract.  Now that it’s 2 years later, original Droid owners would likely be happy to upgrade to a new Droid 3, but it should appeal to the same audience with the same pure Google experience, but fix it’s short comings.  Faster processor, more RAM, more NAND.

“Faster processor, more RAM, more NAND”

I agree, I am now ready to upgrade from my Milestone 1, but am concerned that the Milestone 3 might be a bit behind the curve. That, and the Froyo update fiasco, has me sitting on the sidelines…

If this is true, then it’s disappointing. The Milestone 3 looked to be a great piece of kit, and if it was to be released with an unlocked bootloader, then everybody would have been happy.  Let’s hope that the rumour is incorrect.

This is word coming from a retailor (I know and trust incidentally) as direct from Motorola – it doesn’t look good, I have to say…
