UPDATE: UK Motorola Xoom owners on Twitter are reporting that they’re receiving Google Music too. The intrigue!
The Google Music streaming service isn’t available in the UK, but lo if it isn’t being pushed out to select Android handsets here in Blighty. Not only that, but Google Books is coming along for the ride. Have you got them yet?
An Electricpig reader reports that his Google Nexus S phone has had Google Music and Google Books apps pushed to it, and sure enough, Twitter is rife with other readers reporting the same thing on Nexus S and Google Nexus One handsets.
Could that mean Google Music, which has reportedly run into problems with record labels in the US, and the full, commercial Google Books service are about to roll out in the UK and further afield?
We’re hopeful but not betting on it: Google Books is still only showing the public domain titles Google makes available globally, and the only difference is you can now sync your spot in them between devices, Kindle-style. If this was happening on a wider scale, to other HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson Android phones, we’d be getting a bit more excited.
For our part, we’ve just received Google Books on our Nexus S, but not Music, even though we’ve actually managed to get around the restrictions and sign up for it on the desktop.
What are you seeing? Is either working for you? Would you rather see Google Movies in the UK? Shout up with your thoughts in the comments!
[Thanks Matthew!]
