It’s often said that Apple doesn’t do market research. A New York Times piece from March this year reported Steve Jobs‘ response to what consumer and market research Apple does as: “None, it isn’t the customers’ job to know what they want.”

But it appears that Apple has begun a new campaign to test the waters with select customers through regular surveys. AppleInsider reports that customers have received emails asking them to complete a survey on what Apple products they own then inviting them to become members of the Apple Customer Pulse group…

Facebook is eyeing Skype with the intention of either buying the company outright or developing a joint venture, according to sources quoted by Reuters.

There are two conflicting stories: one suggesting that Facebook will stage a buyout of the VoIP firm for as much as $4bn (that figure seems high given that recent estimates put Skype’s worth at aroune $1bn) while the other claims that Facebook simply plans to partner with Skype
