Continuing its taste for commercials that kind of don’t make much sense, Google has co-opted Lady Gaga for its latest Google Chrome ad.

The Lady Gaga Google Chrome video, which you can take a peek at after the break, features the singer communicating with her “little monsters” in a variety of different ways using Google products.

The message as far as we can see is that Google helps Lady Gaga practice mind control. There’s an awful lot of Gaga fans instantly responding to her commands in the clip…

We’ve seen plenty of augmented reality demonstrations using cards and markers (look at the Nintendo 3DS AR cards) but Sony is taking that further with Sony SmartAR. The system, which you can see demoed on video after the break, recognises objects directly.

That makes creating effects like the virtual water spilling out of the mug in the video much easier to achieve. With a pair of awesome AR glasses, this could be the future! Or just open the flood gates for the most irritating adverts ever devised. Take a look and let us know what you make of it…
