Panasonic launches new range of Smart Viera TVs, regular TVs run and hideWhat’s better than a Panasonic Viera TV? How about a Smart Viera. Today, the company unveiled its new line of Smart Viera TVs, complete with IPTV, Facebook, apps, games and Skype calls. At launch Panasonic will offer ABC’s iView and Plus 7 for catch-up services, but more are expected to follow. Could a Panasonic Smart Viera be your next TV?

Panasonic is calling the new Smart Vieras the “hub of the modern home”. With TV USB recording, DLNA sharing, DivX HD and MKV file support, we’d have to agree. The new 2011 line up also includes 2D-to-3D conversion, available on all 3D models including the company’s first 3D LCD, the DT20.

If a new TV is not in the budget, Panasonic is also offering the new Skype functions on its Blu-ray recorders. You’ll need to pony up the funds for a Skype camera (currently $199), but that sure beats the cost of a new set.
