call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3

It’s been all quiet on the Western Front regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, at least until this week. In the last few days, we’ve seen reports from inside sources and even leaked logos hinting at premium online play – something we’ve been hearing about for a while. The question is, do you really want another Modern Warfare sequel? You tell us!

Yesterday, Kotaku reported that despite the developers’ founders walking out last year (and then being sued) Infinity Ward is preparing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for a release in the Autumn. The story, sources say, will continue the storyline in the wake of the invasion of US soil in 2009′s Modern Warfare 2, but on a much more epic scale.

That’s not all though: on a forum, one tipster has posted high resolution images of what he claims are logos for the new game, and something called “Call of Duty Elite” – it’s not clear what this is but it is possible that this could be the paid-for online offering Activision has long been suspected of prepping for its smash hit multiplayer first person shooter franchise. It’s likely that all will be revealed at the E3 games expo in Los Angeles next month, if not before.

Activision’s Call of Duty games from Treyarch and Infinity Ward have become annual instalments, and turned the series into one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time.

But are you getting tired of a short solo campaign and the same people murdering you over and over again in “urban and gritty” maps? Or are you lusting for more? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

Any game that charges extra for something other than new maps (especially after posting huge profits) can say goodbye to my hard earned cash!

ps. I know that was Activision and not IW posting profits but you get the idea :)

Well if Infinity Ward is at the helm then it should be great!

There’s absolutely no way I will pay extra to play online. Considering the game will cost a minimum of £55 and the profits that Activision have racked up from the previous installments, I find it offensive that they would even consider this charging extra. Goodbye CoD, hello Battlefield.
