LG Nexus device will be first to run Android Ice Cream? Two of the three heavy hitters have weighed in with Google experience Nexus devices. HTC had first dibs with its Nexus One. Samsung followed with the Nexus S. With the next major Android revision (Ice Cream) on tap for late 2011, will LG complete the Nexus trifecta?

Google has consistently released a flagship handset with each major Android revision starting with Android 2.1 and the Nexus One in January 2010. Then in November at the Web 2.0 Summit, Samsung and Google announced the Nexus S, powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This year Google will release Android Ice Cream. Word on the street is LG will be partnering up with the Mountain View team.

Although neither Google nor LG has confirmed a partnership for the next Nexus device, Andy Rubin had this to say,

“The Nexus has been the thing that we used to set the bar, and there’s always going to be new ones coming out in the market…we’ll make an announcement at some point in the future.”

What would the purported LG Nexus smartphone bring to the table? FoneArena believes we may see a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a chip five times faster than Tegra 2. Let the rumors begin and expect a formal announcement later this year.
