Info on the Xbox 360 software update has been leaked and there’s some fun stuff in there.. It’ll roll out between May 19 and May 30 (apparently to “ensure a high quality deployment) and will deliver Avatar Kinect (as a seperate download) and support for a new disc format and PayPal payment.

    What do they mean by a new disk format?

      I suspect that’s just a technical change to allow them to fit more onto a game disk or include new features.

    A blu-ray drive so I can ditch my useless PS3. Sadly I doubt it would fit down my phone line :-(

    An option to increase the buffer for video playback from WMC in Windows 7 so that avi files with DD5.1 would play without stutter. I’ve heard it’s a file size problem over 2GB which is pathetic from the company that created the avi format.

    New disc format is XGD3, adds an extra Gb of data available to developers as well as increasing anti piracy measures. Current 360 games can only use 6.6Gb, the remainder goes to the video partition.
