The iPhone location tracking story just rolls on with folk dredging through patents as they ponder Apple’s thinking. Since Apple has kept schtum about the issue, that’s really not surprising. Gawker dredged up an Apple patent published on March 3 2011 which reveals potential uses for that big stash of location data stored on your iPhone…

Two Sony Android Honeycomb tablets have arrived… kind of. Sony has announced the Sony S1 and Sony S2 Android Honeycomb tablets without actually outing many specs for the pair. The Sony S1 is a fairly standard-looking slate with a 9.4in screen, PlayStation integration and the Qriocity media suite (which includes music, video and ebooks) baked in.
The Sony S2 is a quirkier, dual-screen Android Honeycomb tablet with two 5.5in 1024×480 displays which Sony promises can be used together as one big screen or for different functions simultaneously. For instance, checking email on one screen whilst browsing a website on the other.
Both tablets will arrive, packing Tegra 2 processors, sometime around the end of the year. Sony hasn’t revealed any pricing yet so this is essentially just a call for attention that says: forget that iPad 2, we’ve got tablets coming!

The shelf life for gadgets evaporates at a blistering pace, particularly in the world of Android where new devices are announced in what seems like 24-hour intervals. Granted, it’s not exactly that fast paced, but for those covering the daily tech grind — at times it certainly feels this way. Today, HTC gave Android users a reason to celebrate. The upcoming HTC Flyer which ships with Gingerbread (2.4), will be updated “shortly after launch” to Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
Last week we overcame a major hurdle in widespread Skype adoption for Android with an application update which addressed security vulnerabilities and enabled worldwide 3G voice calling. The stronghold, currently imposed by Verizon Wireless in the US, looked to be fading — that is, until today. A new version of Skype for Android, complete with video calling capabilities, looks to be a Verizon exclusive and it’s ready for release.
Samsung has its sights set on landing a new 3D Smart TV in a bedroom near you. Offered in 32 and 40 inch varieties, the new D6350 series brings the power of stereoscopic 3D and the eye-friendly 2D viewing while reducing dizziness and eliminating eyestrain. Like its big brothers the D8000, D7000, D6500 and D6400 series, you’ll have Samsung’s Smart Hub and TV apps within arm’s reach.
A new report and accompanying photos have thrown a hex in last week’s iPhone 5 design renders. Apple insider, MIC gadget, has released photos of a white iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 4S. While it packs a larger 3.7-inch display, the design remains mostly unchanged compared to the current-gen iPhone 4.
