The PlayStation Network is still down in the wake of an attack than Sony says may have compromised user information. The firm has been unable to tell customers when the service will come back online. On the official PlayStation blog, spokesman Patrick Seybold, says: “This is a time intensive process and we’re working to get it back online quickly.”

If you’re a PlayStation Network user, are you frustrated by Sony’s lack of clear communication and the service downtime? Click the headline and hit the comments to share your thoughts and frustrations.

multi trillion £ company without top security against these types of things that happen ALOT more than most ppl could imagine! microsoft got their heads screwed on…. QUESTION – would you pay a yearly subscription for dedicated servers like xbox has?? ANSWER – weather you’d be willing to or not, psn wouldnt offer it bcos sooo many ppl would jump str8 to xbox KNOWING its more reliable!! ii had 4 xbox that i lost (haha) to red ring of death – my own fault for messing with everysingle 1 of them, i jumped to psn and its just as easy if not easier to HACK/modify ur psn account, whereas ur xbox gets marked and removed from playing online whilst with PSN ONLY ur account gets marked so u just set a new 1 up, sad really but these things are gonna remain for a looong time yet…!! believe me when i say this COULD have been prevented if sony were as committed as microsoft are, but AGAIN it comes down to the money side of things, if we were paying for dedicated servers this would be fixed by now…or even prevented

I am a bit dissappointed as i just bought my PS3 a couple of weeks ago after having a 360 for about 5 years. Then boom 1 week after playing, no PSN. Whats going on on. I understand that it may be out of sonys hands but please let us know on a daily basis as to what is going on.

  • kyla

sony are now taking the piss xbox never has trouble like this so il be chuking the 3 ps3 s in the house and buying xbox to replace today

    • Chris

      You have 3 x PS3′s!?

    • Anon

“xbox never has trouble like this”

yeah right – like their early consoles never suffered problems.

How much do you pay for xbox service? and how much do you pay for Sony’s?

IF it’s Sony’s issue then by all means have a moan afterwards, but until such time that the details come out then it sounds like you’re throwing your toys out the pram.

If you are going to rid yourself of the PS3′s at this stage then bully for you. Just do it and stop with the whinging

  • kyla

it should be up and running by now, they should make these things better everyone saying not sony fault bull x box is always good so sony should give us compo atleast some free stuff,

    • one-skin

compo??free stuff?? compensated on what?? hahah it stated in the TOS that sony are not liable for unforseen outages etc etc, if you believe everything you read you should be happy bcos the psn will return much improved !! when?? hahaha thats the question

  • Brickboi175

im a lil disapointed i’ve had my ps3 for over 2yrs online so it sucks not being able to go online! because a ps3 is not a ps3 without online service! and also i cant even watch netflex but im still being bill for both! so tighten up sony an get ur sh*t together! the hacker problem is something that should have been thought about before now! Now i have to suffer yet another day! ThanX Sony!

  • Dave

I’ve had a all the Sony console products, I’ve been an avI’d Sony fan for years, but this recent amount of customer service while psi has been down has been unaceptable. No out right explination to the customer… Lack of eurgancy to fix the problem… No communication to explain when pan will be back online. These are standard protocol for such a large company with a big reputation. I won’t be buying a 360… But I think Sony may have gave people something else to think about when choosing which console to buy.

    • Dave

Sorry for the sp mistakes damn iPod touch.

  • Kelbri

sony is supposed to be a leading online playing experience and they can’t even manage to keep security tight.
this is totally unacceptable and whats more the online users who have submitted personal details and also bank details are now at risk from identity fraud.
i hope sony is compensating all us online gamers who are legally using the network.

That the PSN is down is annoying but so what!? It is only with the latest generation of consoles that online content has been so easily accessible. Last night I finished Crysis 2, the week before Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood; both of which have an online multiplayer component but in the last month I have revelled in some of the most superb story driven content I have ever been subjected to in a video game. That they didn’t include a PSN component did not in any way reduce my enjoyment of them. There are any number of games available that have a superb single player component for which a PSN connection is not required.

Are we really all so naive that we expect corporations such as Sony to offer a perfect service without any problem or incident from time to time; especially when they are targetted by hackers. Don’t sell your PS3 in misplaced impatient anger just yet, pick up an excellent single player title and play games how they have always been played – just you and the game!

sony is big enough to never have to put up with problems such as hackers. sony sort ya shit out

      • Chris

That is so naive – that Sony is large has nothing to do with it. Sophisticated, direct and co-ordinated attacks from hackers are an increasing problem which have the capability to disrupt even the largest / most powerful organisations from corporations to governments – the bigger the company the bigger the target. Sony, rather than putting their users at risk took their network offline to enact repairs rather than ignore the problem, hoping it will go away. Well done to Sony for taking some responsibility!

Sadly, yes. Most people expect things for free these days, and then throw a tantrum when they don’t get what they want.

The only answer is for people to grow up

  • Whitecross_boi

i just wish sony would give us a date that this is going to be sorted instead of keeping us all in dark i didnt know i would miss online so much we all need answers i thought a company as big as sony would have the right stuff in order to keep this kind of thing from happening please get it fixed asap sony :)

  • the guy with a 15 incher

ok sure the network is down but they could inform people on a regular basis and try to sort it quicker, i think they should give something free to everyone too lol, maybe a free film or new black ops map packs. YEEAAAHHH!!!

    • Me

SONY was hacked by a iphone user with the new app available

  • Luckyr40

you would think that sony would also take care of the cheaters, after all we pay good money for a good game and all you get is cheaters so take the time do somthing about it

  • http://www.arcanys.com outsourcing company

This is an ear-ringing shout for those sleeping system administrators -hello. Too bad for Sony’s sales I do hope they can catch the culprit asap though i doubt it is anonymous, but come to you got a point, they might have been just lucky. Look forward from this update.

Sony will do what they always do….Keep quite and hope the people forget about it. A blue chip company with security like a chocolate fireguard is inexcusable. 360 fanboys will be revelling in the delight that the mighty ps3 has more flaws than a skyscraper and that user cant play online. Some Ps3 users will do the biggest U turn since the Lib dems. Those Ps3 users who say the xbox360 is shit, crap rubbish, never have one of those gays machines, by the way – when did a console have a sexual or any sexual orientation?. Welcome aboard Ps3 owners , now you can flame the Ps3….
