Google is courting Spotify for possible music partnership?Word on the street is Google has been doing a fair bit of wining and dining to win the heart of music streaming service Spotify. Today’s report comes by way of Cnet. The site is claiming Google is considering using Spotify for its soon-to-be-announced music streaming service, either in a buy out or a partnership. Are you ready for Google Music powered by Spotify?

In case you hadn’t noticed, music streaming is the future. Pandora set the bar, Grooveshark exploited it and Spotify refined and polished it up. Google’s biggest threat, Apple, has also been rumored to be launching a music streaming service of its own and as recently as yesterday, the WSJ reported it was on the brink of reaching an agreement with a record label. We imagine the new server farm isn’t hurting their chances either.

Google’s music streaming service will work a bit like YouTube, allowing users to upload their songs to the cloud and then stream, share or download. The idea sounds great, but clearly the music labels did not like the idea of open sourcing their commodity, which brings us to Spotify. Leveraging Spotify’s footprint leaves Google poised to peel back the red tape and get the ball rolling with streaming music.

Is a Google owned Spotify solution a win for users? Sound off.
