Dell is departing from the 7-inch form factor and headed to bigger and better things. A 10-inch Dell tablet, dubbed the Dell Streak Pro, has just appeared in the company’s “Commercial Tablet Roadmap Summary”. Even more interesting is the company plans to launch a 10-inch Windows 7 powered Latitude ST and 13-inch Core i3 Latitude XT-3 workhorse.
Apple many not have invented the tablet market, but they certainly became the first company to make a quick buck doing so. Now it appears Dell is ready to cash in with a trio of tablets geared at the Windows and Android market. After entering the tablet game with a 5-inch Streak and most recently, the 7-inch Streak, Dell has come to the realization that you need a 10-inch screen to play with the big dogs.
We’re sure RIM will disagree, as will its 50,000+ PlayBook owners, but the sweet spot for tablets seems to be 10-inches. The Dell Streak Pro brings a 10-inch WXGA (1280×800 resolution) display, Tegra T25 processor, Honeycomb OS, two mics, 2 video cameras and the Dell “Stage 1.5” user interface. We’re not sold on throwing an overlay on an Android Honeycomb tablet, but we’ll give Dell the benefit of the doubt for now.
