Woot! Android Honeycomb tablets with Intel inside are coming. We’d heard a rumour that Intel would go with Google’s OS but now Paul Otellini, Intel’s president and chief executive, has confirmed that the firm is working on porting Android Honeycomb to run on Intel chips…
Otellini says: “We’ve received the Android code – the Honeycomb version of Android source code – from Google, and we’re actively doing the port on that.” The revelation may also explain why Google has not open-sourced Android Honeycomb’s code yet. Otellini promised Intel Android Honeycomb tablets this year and reiterated that Intel-based smartphones will drop sometime next year.
