The Royal Wedding is approaching like a posh Godzilla wearing a veil and like any good monster it aims to crush everything in its wake. The nuptials of William “with-the-huge-forehead” Wales and Kate “call me Catherine” Middleton will be the first royal wedding to be offered up as an iTunes download.
Frighteningly, the recording will be made available as soon as the ceremony ends. That’ll be the cue for the old folk who buy commemorative plates and thousands of royalty mad Americans to click buy like their lives depend on it. And they must be stopped!
Decca which also released the official soundtrack albums of the wedding of Charles and Diana and Princess Diana’s funeral, is punting the audio recording of the service onto iTunes on the day of the wedding. A CD of the entire service will hit shops days later.
The positive bit is that £1 from each album download will go to charity. But if you want to help keep Wills and Kate off the top spot, you could just give a few pounds to charity and buy The Sex Pistol’s God Save The Queen instead. Sadly the few campaigns to keep the royals off the top spot have so far not got much traction.
We want to know what song or songs you’d prefer to see as the toppermost of the poppermost instead of the Royal Wedding recording riding high. Hit the comments with your suggestions and to make yourself feel a little better about the whole Royal Wedding hoopla and the disappointing lack of a Royal Wedding 3D broadcast, watch the video below. It’s the royals humiliating themselves on It’s A Royal Knockout…
And if they do get to number 1 because people want to download? What exactly is wrong with that. I’m no royalist, but hell if people enjoy it then so be it.
Jamie
Yet another pointless stupid article! People who download it are a bit sad to me, but if they want to and enjoy it what is it to you?
