The Sun has been giving the Nintendo 3DS a hammering over the past few days after it conducted an experiment which it claims shows that playing the console for long periods makes you feel ill. But what effect does reading The Sun have on you? Read on for more pseudo-science!
The Sun ‘test’ by Sun doctor Carol Cooper consisted of blood pressure and heart rate measurements taken at regular intervals over a two hour period from a 22-year-old man playing on a Nintendo 3DS. The unscientific study follows a previous Sun front page story, “3DS SOS”, that claimed Nintendo 3DS units are being returned in “record numbers”. Nintendo and GAME both refuted the claim.
In an effort to get some balance, our friends at Pocketgamer did their own experiment to ascertain the effects of reading The Sun for two hours. The ever-so-brave Mike Rose read the paper for two hours in various situations including in the back of a cab and discovered that it made him feel quite ill.
While the Pocketgamer test was no more scientific than The Sun’s Nintendo 3DS slam, Mike concluded: “In my opinion, children should not be left to read The Sun for hours.” The entire experiment is over at Pocketgamer, hop over and take a read, it’s gloriously sarcastic.
