The Royal Wedding will be streamed online and its soundtrack will be shifted via iTunes but the Royal Wedding 3D broadcast that was being discussed? Sky just couldn’t get the deal done.

A new report from the New York Times reveals the lengths Sky 3D went to in an attempt to persuade the Royal Family about the merits of its tech.

Sky 3D technicians put together and filmed a mock wedding at a London church to illustrate how a Royal Wedding 3D broadcast might look. It didn’t persuade Clarence House, which is handling the wedding arrangements though.

The Royals said they did not want to deal with the larger size 3D cameras but confirmed in a letter to Sky and other broadcasters that it does not “rule out facilitating 3D at some point in the future.” The Queen’s Speech in 3D? It might be more interesting…
