Sony has lifted the lid on its first DAB+ radios, and with completely different styles and approaches, there should be something to satisfy all but the pickiest of ears. Read on for more info.

The first two Sony DAB+ radios look completely different: the Sony XDR-S16DBP is retro styled, with a rounded wood cabinet, while the Sony XDR?C706DBP has a more modern look, with large LCD for easy viewing on your bedside table. Yet both are compatible with the DAB+ standard being rolled out throughout Europe, offering more stations, and clearer sound. DAB+ isn’t available in the UK yet, but these will let you reap the rewards when it arrives.

The XDR-S16DBP is more at home in the lounge or kitchen, with the wooden styling and 0.8W speakers, while the XDR-C706DBP features four separate alarms – ideal if you’re getting up later than your partner. Or you just have real trouble getting up. Both have 10 DAB+ presets, for storing your favourite stations, plus another 10 FM presets, and both are available right now.

Out now | £80 (XDR-S16DBP), £60 (XDR-C706DBP ) | Sony
