Rockstar Games designs special 20th anniversary edition of Esquire

April 1st, 2011

That’s some pretty special artwork there from the bods at Rockstar, and there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. Click through to take a closer look and see what we mean.

Men’s mag Esquire commissioned Rockstar Games to illustrate the cover of its 20th anniversary edition, and this is the result. It’s an intricate Rockstar logo, and as well as reflecting “the decay that exists alongside all things beautiful,” (pretentious? Rockstar?) it contains a few gems from the company’s oeuvre.

So far, apart form the hummingbird with a skull, we’ve spotted a Statue of Liberty, an eagle and a helicopter, but we’re sure plenty more are hidden away.

Take a look, and let us know in the comments what else you’ve managed to find. Maybe there’s a tedious cut scene in there somewhere.

Other designers of the magazine’s 20th anniversary covers include Paul Smith and Christopher Bailey, chief creative director of Burberry.
