Sony is reportedly hard at work on some intriguing prototypes: a Sony Vaio Chrome OS model and a Vaio Hybrid packing an SSD and Thunderbolt.
The Sony Vaio Chrome OS device is apparently based on the Google CR-48 with similar dimensions and a similarly sized keyboard but a slimmed down 11.6in screen and a Tegra 2 chip inside along with 1GB RAM and 16GB of flash storage. Sony Insider also claims the Chrome OS laptop will have 8 hours of battery life…
Meanwhile, the Sony Vaio hybrid is said to be a super-thin, super-light Core i7 laptop rocking up to 16.5 hours of battery life, Intel Thunderbolt connectivity and an SSD drive which hops into a dock to add a Blu-ray burner and external AMD graphics. It alls sounds rather glorious but we suspect the price will be not so smile-inducing.
