The Amazon Android app store is close to opening its virtual doors and it looks like it’ll be good news for Android fans’ pockets. Android News snuck in to the store early when it discovered it was live at amazon.com/apps. The store has now disappeared again with the link pointing to the Amazon homepage but Android News got some screenshots first…
If the prices on the screenshots are accurate then it looks like Amazon plans to hit the official Android Market just as it gave iTunes a fright by selling discounted MP3s when its music store opened in 2007. The 48 apps discovered in the brief snoop around the store included several apps that aren’t on the Android Market yet, including Call of Duty: Force Recon.
