Like clockwork, prior to Apple’s yearly smartphone refresh, a third-party case appears online which provides clues to the next-generation form factor. Today, we have spotted the first such image for the iPhone 5 which disproves earlier rumors suggesting the iPhone 5 would nix the current design.
A quick look at the purported iPhone 5 cases and you can see both button placement and the SIM card slot remain unchanged. The renderings, obtained by HardMac, have not been confirmed, but the site calls their source “reliable”. With that being said, the iPad 2 case leaked months before an official announcement was spot on.
Assuming Apple keeps the current design of the iPhone 4 for the iPhone 5, do you think the backlash from “antennagate” will have any lasting impact on future sales? Let us know whether Apple is taking a step in the right direction or if a total refresh of the iPhone is needed in 2011.
