Sure, the HTC Flyer is on the way, but it looks as though a HTC Android Honeycomb tablet is being primed too, with a bigger screen size and newer version of Google’s operating system, designed specifically for tablets. That’s the biggest takeaway from a treasure trove of a roadmap leaked online today – read on for that and plenty more right here…
PreCentral has landed what it says is a roadmap from a major US retailer, and while it tantalisingly suggests that the incredible HP TouchPad will match the iPad 2‘s price ($499, albeit three months after), we’re interested in the mention of a HTC Android Honeycomb tablet expected in June, with a ten inch screen.
HTC launched its first Android tablet, the HTC Flyer, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, but it screen measures 7-inches across, meaning it would be barely half the size of a 10-inch tablet. It also runs Android 2.3, a build of Google’s OS meant purely for mobile phones, rather than tablet dedicated Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
As such, this HTC Android Honeycomb tablet is new on us, but is hardly surprising with rivals like Motorola, Samsung and LG already in the mix. What we’re intrigued to know about is the reason for the relative delay: perhaps it’s giving Android the HTC Sense treatment, and a complete social networking overlay? Or maybe a stylus? Fingers crossed we find out in due course.
