Amazon has pulled off quite a coup for the launch of its alternative to the Android Market. A tweet earlier today has confirmed that Angry Birds Rio for Android will be an Amazon App Store Exclusive, at least initially.

Angry Birds fans (at least the ones who have got three gold stars on everything else) are eagerly awaiting the new game in the series, Angry Birds Rio. iPhone owners will be getting their fix via the App Store as per usual, but Android users looking for the game on the Android Market on launch day will be disappointed – it won’t be found there.

Amazon has persuaded Rovio to release the Android version of Angry Birds Rio as an exclusive for its new Amazon App Store. Both Amazon and Rovio confirmed this earlier today via teh appropriately avian medium of the Tweet.

We assume the game will end up in Google’s Market in due course but nevertheless, this is a pretty neat coup for Amazon and should ensure a flurry of downloads to boost its early stats.
