Richard Branson has said he’d welcome a merger with Apple, should Steve Jobs fancy it. He said of Jobs: “Everything he does is real class. If he wanted to rename his company Virgin Apple, we sure would be happy to merge! A great brand, a great company.”

Branson waxed lyrical about Apple in an interview with T3. He was gushing about Steve Jobs, but said that he didn’t know whether Apple would reign supreme in the future: “I think Steve Jobs…would be the entrepreneur I most admire,” said Branson. He’s the greatest comeback artist as well, he’s been down and out and fought his way back, and created a brilliant global company.

“I don’t know whether Apple can stay ahead of the game with all competitors, with Google coming out with their software which enables you to do it on every single bit of electronic equipment I don’t know. There is a possibility that Apple will not reign supreme indefinitely

“Steve Jobs would have to be my personality of this year because it sounds like he may not be coming back [to work]. He really has done incredible things and he’s got a great legacy.”
