Samsung has said that it is having to rethink the pricing plans for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 after Apple’s iPad revamp. That’s according to executive VP of Samsung Lee Don-Joo, who said that the super slim iPad 2 means that things might have to change for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Lee Don-Joo didn’t sound particularly excited about Samsung’s new product, and said: “We will have to improve the parts that are inadequate…Apple made [the iPad 2] very thin.”
His concerns centre around the slim body and price of the iPad 2, and how Samsung’s prices for the Samsung Galaxy Tab compare. He said: “The 10-inch (tablet) was to be priced higher than the 7-inch but we will have to think that over.”
It sounds like Samsung are pretty rattled by the iPad 2, and as a result may alter its strategy for tablet pricing. It’s also particularly worrying when an exec calls the company’s product “inadequate”. Ouch.
However, on the plus side, it might save our wallets some unnecessary strain. The original Samsung Galaxy Tab is priced at the top end of the Android tablet scale, and to push that price even higher for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 could spell disaster.
