The Sony Walkman was a critical piece of technology in standardization of portable music playback. Drawing on its success, we were first introduced to the Sony Ericsson Walkman phones way back in 2005 with the W800i. After a bit of a dry spell since the more recent Zylo and Spiro, it appears Sony Ericsson is going to give the walkman phone line another go.
Sony Ericsson is poised to return the Walkman phone line up to the pinnacle of smartphone vitality. In a poster received by our friends at concept-phones (shown below), Sony Ericsson makes the promise of a smarter Walkman phone coming soon. There’s no telling what Sony Ericsson has up its sleeves, but Android 2.3 Gingerbread is certainly the odds on favorite. A spacious touchscreen, gaming features and best-in-class music playback would also be a nice touch.
What would you like to see from Sony Ericsson’s next wave of Walkman phones?
