Apple has a history of hiding Easter Eggs and secret messages in its icons (see our Apple Icon Secrets feature) and there’s a new one in Mac OS X Lion. the icon for a new Finder section called All My Files holds a tribute to Steve Jobs

The new icon is a little filing cabinet filled with documents and dividers and if you zoom in on one of those documents you discover that there are two notable quotes from Steve Jobs and a classic Apple ad written on it. First up there’s the classic “Here’s to the crazy ones” ad copy:

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. -Apple

The tribute to Steve Jobs though is particularly appropriate given the radical new look of Mac OS X Lion:

Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. -Steve Jobs

It’s a great little hat tip to Steve Jobs and hopefully just one of many secrets hiding in the new OS. You can see the full size icon below:
