Sound the alarms. The Dell Venue Pro has overcome the impossible and is now available in the UK. After some serious production delays, Dell’s order page is now live. Powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and bundled with one year hardware support, the Venue Pro can be yours for £382.50 before VAT and shipping.
The road to fruition has been quite a struggle for Dell and its Windows Phone 7 handset. In the US, the smartphone was picked up by T-Mobile in early December, but shipments were limited to just a handful of units per week. Finally, just last month we got our own Venue Pro for review.
The handset walked away with our Editor’s Choice and Best Buy awards for January 2011, but the accolades were bittersweet. While we had a chance to enjoy this tasty bit of tech, the rest of the UK was not so lucky. Alas, Dell’s big reveal.
Over on Dell UK, the Venue Pro is listed at £382.50 before VAT and shipping. Once added to the cart you have the choice of opting in for 2 year hardware support for an additional £4.15 or the included 1 year. With the good news comes a catch.
In bright red writing, “This system will delay your order with 10 days”. From what we can tell this means there will be a delay of 10 days before your Venue Pro actually ships. We’re crossing our fingers, hoping this does not lead to the same sort of gradual roll outs as experienced in the US. For now we’ll remain optimistic so let us know how your order is going if you decide to commit to the Windows Phone 7 experience.
