Some of the best iPhone apps creep up on us, some apps smack us in the face with their brilliance and some apps snear at our t-shirt and tell us that our music taste is rubbish…alright, one app does that and it’s called Pocket Hipster.

Games journos have been receiving bloodied dog tags in the post. Not in a mafia-style threat context, but that direct them to a website where a countdown has begun. The site is called www.findmakarov.com, and the dog tags also have the message “end the war” printed on them. At the time of writing there’s just under five days on the countdown clock.

Makarov probably refers to Vladimir Makarov, the leader of an Ultranationalist terrorist cell in Modern Warfare 2. This in turn would signal that the promo stunt going on, which will reach zero on Wednesday next week, has at the very least something to do with Modern Warfare 3, possibly a launch announcement.
