Nestled in your iPhone, your music collection is a brilliant way of wrapping yourself in aural cotton wool and shutting the world out but all that data can be useful for things other than drowning out the laugh of that one irritating woman in the office (you know, the one who sits near the photocopier).

Today’s entry into best iPhone apps is Nomis, a clever little utility that scans your virtual record collection to show you what new releases your favourite artists have coming up. We especially like that it racks them on shelves that look awfully similar to the ones we’re used to in iBooks. Sure £1.19 is a bit pricey for an app like this but Nomis is still one of the best iPhone apps in its odd little category.

Sources inside Sony have leaked info about its upcoming Sony tablet announcement. The tablet is currently codenamed the S1, and will be running Android Honeycomb, and sporting a full complement of Qriocity smarts. What’s most interesting though is the current design of the S1 – a curving hunk of metal.

The Windows Phone 7 Connector app is now available in the Mac App Store. It’s an app that lets you hook up and sync your Windows Phone 7 device on a Mac.It’s also compatible with Zune HD. The beta version popped up in October, but now this is the full, ready to go, dusted off finished product.

It works in a similar way to media syncing with BlackBerry Desktop Manager on Mac. It pulls in your iTunes content and playlists, and then moves everything on the phone back in your OS X libraries.
