Apple’s new MacBook Pro just landed, with specs that’ll make your tech-obsessed head spin. There’s a new FaceTime HD camera, and a lightning-quick Thunderbolt expansion port. Read on for full specs and pricing details!
The new MacBook Pro will come in three sizes: 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch screens. The 13-inch new MacBook Pro features Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual-core processor and the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models feature quad-core Core i7 processors.
The FaceTime Mac app was released ahead of the new MacBook Pro, will support for the new MacBook Pro’s FaceTime HD camera that’s triple the resolution of the previous generation, for super crisp video calls.
The new MacBook Pro will also come loaded with Thunderbolt. Rumours have been circulating about this new connection technology for months. It’s an Intel-developed way to transfer files at super speed. More than 20x faster than USB 2.0, it’ll also support monitors and TVs straight from the box. There’s two bi-directional channels which have transfer speeds of up to 10GBps each.
In terms of its looks, there’s not much that’s changed: “The MacBook Pro lineup continues to feature its gorgeous aluminum unibody enclosure, glass multi-touch trackpad, LED-backlit widescreen display, illuminated full-size keyboard and 7-hour battery,” states Apple’s announcement. No luck on the matte black then. Damn.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro starts from £999, with the 15 and 17-inch models at £1549 and £2099 respectively.
