Sources inside Sony have leaked info about its upcoming Sony tablet announcement. The tablet is currently codenamed the S1, and will be running Android Honeycomb, and sporting a full complement of Qriocity smarts. What’s most interesting though is the current design of the S1 – a curving hunk of metal.

The Sony S1 is “meant to remind the owner of something personal in the way that it mimics an open paperback stuffed into the back pocket” according to Engadget. There are no images yet, but this sounds interesting. It’s currently in the developing lab, and has a 9.4-inch screen and has a Tegra 2 processor under the hood.

The Sony S1 tablet has a front and rear facing camera, and there are discussions going on about whether to give it a dedicated Q button, to take you straight through to Qriocity. Qriocity will be integrated into the tablet, offering ebooks, music, video and games on demand. It will also have PlayStation integration.

All the info is pointing to impressive things for the Sony S1 tablet, but with no sign of a final design or final specs yet, could Sony get left behind in the tablet wars?

How do you know the most interesting part is the design if we haven't seen it?! ;-)

Forget Qriocity, all we want is an HDMI out!
