Good news web wanderers! The Skype Access Wi-Fi deal that allows you to use Skype credit to pay for wireless hotspots has been massively expanded. At MWC 2011, Skype announced new partnerships with eight international WiFi operators. Here’s the full list…
- BT Openzone (the UK’s largest Wi-Fi network)
- Fon (BT’s collaborative Wi-Fi sharing network)
- M3 Connect (Germany)
- Row 44 (in-flight broadband service offered on international flights)
- Skyrove (South Africa)
- Spectrum Interactive (UK)
- Tomizone (Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific)
- Vex (South Africa)
The number of Skype Wi-Fi-friendly hotspots now stands at 500,000 worldwide with 500 airports and 30,000 hotels in that number. The deal is that Skype users are able to pay per minute using Skype credit. That’s handy at hotels or other locations that tend to make you pay for the day.
