Toshiba Honeycomb Android tablet: UK hands on

Remember the Toshiba Honeycomb Android tablet we saw in Las Vegas last month at CES? We just caught it hanging out at Toshiba UK’s Spring launch today, complete with a few more details. Check it our right here.

While the still nameless Toshiba Honeycomb Android tablet sports what are fast becoming the stock Android 3.0 tablet specs, 10.1-inch 1280×800 screen and Nvidia Tegra 2 internals, plus HDMI out and USB in and out ports, we’re told there will be a few software tweaks to help it stand out from the crowd.

The big one is Resolution +, Toshiba’s upscaling software to boost standard definition video up to 720p standard on the tablet’s screen itself, and to full HD when connected to a supported TV. “Ambient screen control” will also adjust the backlight and colour saturation dynamically based on the lighting conditions of the room you’re in.

The Toshiba Honeycomb Android tablet prototype we handled today was still running Android 2.2 sadly, but we’re told the finished model will be out before July, so watch this space – it’s shaping up to be a much more pleasant experience than the troubled Folio 100.

Out Q2 2011 | £TBC | Toshiba
