So…Steve Jobs is still in charge. That’s the message conveyed by a Wall Street Journal report written by Apple’s favourite journalist Yukari Iwatani Kane. Why do we call her Apple’s favourite journalist?
Because a string of very spot-on stories have come via Ms Iwatani Kane including details on iPad 2 production earlier this week and she’s widely seen as a conduit for Apple controlled leaks. Why does Apple want a story saying Steve Jobs is still steering the iPad 2 and iPhone 5 development? To keep the jittery markets on side, of course. Read on to see what we mean…
Iwatani Kane reports that: “Steve Jobs is staying closely involved in the company’s strategic decisions and product development, according to people familiar with the matter.” Whenever an Iwatani Kane story on Apple says “people familiar with the matter” or “these people”, it’s fair to speculate that “those people” are, in fact, sanctioned Apple spokespeople.
She continues: “The 55-year-old Mr Jobs, whose ailment hasn’t been disclosed, has been taking business meetings at home and on the phone, these people said. Among products he is continuing to work on are the next version of the iPad tablet computer, expected out in the next couple of months, and a new iPhone, expected to be released this summer, said two of these people.”
So there you have it, Apple wants us to know that the iPad 2 and iPhone 5 are on the way just as planned and they will come with the Steve Jobs seal of approval. Don’t you feel so much better now?
