Nokia’s plan to bring Windows Phone 7 to its smartphones was revealed this morning. In the wake of that announcement, we’ve now also got a timescale for the implementation of the plans between Steve and Stephen.
Nokia has said in a press release that 2011 and 2012 are years where it settles into this brand new strategy. Here’s the extract from the press release:
“Nokia expects 2011 and 2012 to be transition years, as the company invests to build the planned winning ecosystem with Microsoft.”
After this, it hopes that devices and sales will grow “faster than the market”. There’s so many questions fizzing around that we have yet to answer: Should Nokia have gone with Android? Is Google’s Vic Gundotra right to say that “two turkeys do not make an eagle”? Will Nokia really stick to keeping Ovi Maps?
Stay tuned, we’ve got our seat, and are waiting for the action to start.
